Early 2013 round-up

Firstly, always this...

And so it is, JT, so it is.

I can't believe it's MAY and I haven't updated the site. Very naughty. I blame my newest online obsession: Tumblr. Okay, okay, so Tumblr is nothing new but my fascination with it is. I now have three Tumblrs: 1. That I'm running concurrently as I write my non-fiction book (about coming out) 2. That complements my online fic 'The Possibility of You' with visuals and music and 3. Random shit that cracks me up.

This year was a slow starter on the work front, then BAM, March hit and it was all on. I've just finished up these projects:
  • 9 Spokes: A tech start-up that is about to seriously kick arse in the Cloud business space. Sue and I, as Indiego Big On Writing, have done tone of voice, user journey and copy for their portal website, brand messages and their interim website. This was a really challenging job but I can't wait to see it revolutionise Cloud computing. 9 Spokes has already been named a 'Cool Vendor' with Garnter, so watch this space: www.9spokes.com.
  • Hyundai HQ - Shine: A complete overhaul of Hyundai's key website and community for Hyundai drivers. I gave them a new tone of voice, wrote all the words and gave some input on page IA too. Website to come.
  • Hyundai Family Time - Shine: Just a wee bit of help with navigation, forms and Share copy here. It's going to be a cool campaign, URL to come.
  • Kapiti - Shine: Getting their new brand book into order.

As you can see, I've been 'Shining' a lot recently. Oh god, stop me now.

When DM backfires and more... the August monthly round up!

I've been working at Westpac a lot recently, and part of our launch DM piece for Indiego's specialist writing service was lying around on many people's desks.

I always knew that one day when I truly needed a pencil, this would be the only one I could find... and it happened.

This month I've been doing some proofing for Tower Insurance, working on Westpac's upcoming launch of online home loan applications, and frantically helping to get Westpac's HomeClub uploaded and ready for launch.

(UPDATE: HomeClub has launched! See www.homeclub.co.nz, it's an amazing tool for the house hunting process, with the ability to import and fav properties from TradeMe, compare recent sales prices and figure out what you can actually afford. PS The answer to that for most people in Auckland at the moment is 'nothing good', haha, ha, oh. Sad reality.)

We also initiated a piece in this month's NZMarketing Mag looking at the huge process that was revamping Westpac's website (Indiego writers completely refreshed all the copy, making it a lot more user-friendly and web-savvy). Can't find the PDF but check out the August edition, it is a very attractive looking article if I do say so myself. You can download the PDF below.

Month of May round up

20/5/2010

May has been a scorcher, and I'm not talking about the weather! This month I've been ripping through a lot of nice wee DM (direct marketing) jobs for these clients: Farmer's Card, Q Card and Accor Hotels. I love working out the foldy bits of a mailer, or creating cool, simple web banners.

I've also helped Federation – a small agency run by Sharon Henderson and Murray Reid – win their pitch for the Auckland Tourism account. Done and dusted, thanks to some cool interactive ideas and strategic thinking to help get the Aussies here to what they call 'the poor man's Sydney'. We'll show them!

Plus! Big presentation to Mike Tod, the GM of Marketing and Coms at Air New Zealand with Beth O'Brien, my creative partner for the project. Hopefully we'll get to bring to life some of our plethora of youth and interactive-orientated strategy, marketing, media and advertising ideas. It was a great chance for me to brush up on my strategic thinking rather than just solely  'creative ideas'.

The Out Takes Film Festival that I co-ordinate in Auckland is kicking off on May 27th too! Thank god it's nearly over - I love it but it is a lot of work to co-ordinate 16 volunteers and a week-long festival, out of my love and passion for the cause (rather than money). That's my good deed for the year!

Next up is an article to be written for Express Magazine, trying my hand at pharmaceutical advertising at G2, and... who knows what. Bring it!
